In this episode, we welcome Ben Smallbone to the show. He is a film director, producer, and editor. He directed the 2022 documentary about the faith of Johnny Cash called “Johnny Cash: The Redemption of an American Icon” and is the Director of a new film and series with Angel Studios called “Homestead”, which releases in theaters on December 20th, 2024. In this interview, we discuss how he got involved with the Johnny Cash project, why they spent so much time exploring the Christian faith of Cash, his new film Homestead, why Homestead is being launched as a movie and then continues on as a series, why the series explores our reliance on and worship of technology, the line between being prepared and being paranoid, why Christians should support entertainment projects that focus on darker themes, why the series does not shy away from questions of faith, and much more.
